Parrots Overhauled!
We are excited to announce that we have just launched a new add-on for Minecraft Bedrock Edition called Parrots O’ Plenty! This new add-on brings a wide variety of colourful and lively parrots into the game, enhancing your Minecraft experience with vibrant wildlife and exciting new interactions.
New Behaviours
Some of the new parrots also feature unique behaviours. For example, the Kea, a fascinating parrot from New Zealand, has been observed attacking sheep. In Parrots O’ Plenty, wild Keas will randomly attack sheep just like in nature. Another distinctive addition is the Kākāpō, another New Zealand parrot known as the world’s only flightless parrot. To accommodate this, we made it possible for Minecraft parrots to walk. Baby parrots will also adopt this behaviour as well parrots that have had their wings clipped.
New Interactions
As mentioned above, parrots can now have their wings clipped using shears. Parrots that are not perched will also attempt to sleep with their owners like a cat.
Parrots are now Breedable!
Yes! This is definitely the part that most people are probably interested in, and I know it was one of the main reasons we decided to create this addon in the first place. Parrots can now be bred using several different food items, including watermelon slices, apples, or sweet berries. However, there is an important condition: they must be close to one of the new nest blocks in order for breeding to occur. These new nest blocks are special and can only be obtained by using a tool that has been enchanted with Silk Touch.
New Parrot Variants
To finish off, because I could honestly rant about parrots all day long (I am an enormous parrot lover and enthusiast), we have gone ahead and added 13 exciting new variants. Additionally, we have updated the existing macaws to much better reflect what we believe their real-life inspirations actually look like in nature.
If you enjoy our addon and during your journeys you manage to find a yellow cockatiel in the desert, the model is inspired by my beautiful 24—soon to be 25—year-old cockatiel Sparky, and the orange-bellied parrot in the forest, a gorgeous small parrot from my home state of Tasmania, Australia, that is critically endangered.
